A travel and documentary photography series across Greece — on a Mexican surname with Greek roots, and the life found in the moments between.
I went looking for distant cousins. I found a way of living instead.
My family tree doesn’t trace back very far — I’m Mexican — but a search once told me my surname, Sigala, carries some Greek origin. I half-expected to run into distant cousins out there.
I didn’t (except for a shop carrying the name), but I found something just as worth keeping: the Greek way of life, and a reminder to slow down and cherish the moments in between.
Those moments aren’t only ‘in between.’ They’re the fabric of it — the space to breathe, reflect, and connect in the ways we so often forget to.
The name was the excuse. The pace was the point.
Greece.
